Rollcage on '04 Wrangler with Rollbar from '90 Wrangler

I parted company with my old '90 Wrangler last year, but I find I can't live without a Wrangler to drive.  I'm looking at an '04 Sport, but I just can't stand the look of the roll cage.  I know the cage is safer but, besides making the Wrangler look like a fishbowl, what else does it do?  Am I a lone ranger on this or have other folks modified or replaced the cage to get a more traditional Wrangler look?  Any thoughts or suggestions about how this might be done?  Thanks!

Traditional...I think you mean familiar or preference.

From '87-'91 the roll-over thing was more of a roll bar than a roll cage. In '92 it changed to be more of a roll cage, but still only better than nothing.

In the 70s and 80s everyone had to have a roll bar, with 9 lights of course, in their pick-up. These were nothing more than light bars, not even a roll bar.

Now, roll cages have more to do with function than looks. That does not mean they have to be ugly, but let's face it, they're a bunch of tubes with bracing.

Sometimes, things that are very functional have a way of becomming the "traditional look". After all, what is the Wrangler anyway?

So, do you like the roll bar look or the roll cage look?

Most guys who care about function, ditch the whole thing and custom build a real roll cage that resembles the '92-'08 look. But, is it a look they are after?
