I LOOSE ABOUT A QUART OF OIL EVERY 100MILES WITH NO LEAKS, I PUT IN A BE KOOL RADIATOR, ITS GOT AN ELECTRIC FAN THAT CAME OUT OF AN CROWN VIC,OH I CANT GET THE 4BARREL TO KICK IN.

Sounds like the fan/shroud is blocking the air flow through the radiator. How is the fan switched on? Probably should not be running above 40 mph. Check your belt tension and make sure your thermostat is opening all the way by sticking it in a pot of boiling water.

What carb are you running? Bent or sticky linkage?

FAN IS AS BIG AS THE RADIATOR,SUCKS A PAPERTOWEL FROM 2 FEET AWAY. STARTS AT 190 BELT TENTION IS GOOD, CAN TURN 180DEG. TOOK OUT THERMOSTAT AND STILL DOIN IT. CARB IS A 600 EDELBROCK THAT IS NEW, NO STICKY LINKAGE BUT THE 4BARREL WONT KICK IN

The ram affect of air while going down the road is greater than the fan can move at about 30 mph.

From your stated scenario, you have plenty of air flow at idle and slow speeds. You should have even more airflow through the radiator going 50 mph than your fan could ever move.

Usually that means there is either a restriction that prevents airfolow through the radiator or high pressure inside the engine compartment that prevents air flow.

The fan running while traveling at higher speeds can actually be counter productive by creating static pressure around the radiator.

Skid plating can also have an affect on high engine bay static pressures, preventing good air flow.

Get out on the open hi way or freeway. Turn the fan off. If you don't have a manual fan switch, pull over and pull the fuse to the fan. Then drive for 5-10 miles.

What happens to the temp?

Why do you think the secondaries are not opening. The Edelbrock is a great carb and is pretty simple. It has an air velocity valve that transitions the secondaries. You probably won't feel anything during the transition. It should be smooth and have great performance.

Are you also running an Edelbrock Performer intake? What cam and distributor are you running?
