I am new to these forums so i will try to make this brief I have an 88 cherokee (4.0 w/5 speed). I would like to put an automatic transmission in it so that my wife can drive it. Is it worth the hassle and is it a major project?

it's big project unless ya put in a 3spd auto..

your best bet is to find a parking lot and teach your wife how to drive a stick. that's what i did. oh yeah, make sure you have some spare cash laying around for a new master/slave cylander too (less hassle and way cheaper than a tranny swap)
