I could see the benefits of bolting a turbo on for highway driving, yet for trail riding I don't see the benefits of one. Some ready made kits are pretty finnicky. Another option is a supercharger. http://www.hescosc.com/shop.asp?action=details&inventoryID=63328&catId=7974. Any way I think your going in the right direction in asking for first hand information. Good luck either way you go.

Personally I don't know of any good junk yard stock parts that would work. Not that im saying there arn't any. Things you want to be aware of for example a garret turbo for a power stroke is not going to spool up as quickly when coupled to a cummins due to exhaust output. It might work for all I know. As for intercoolers I think an option might be some of the newer audi's and subarus due to there smaller size and adaptabilty. You would have limited amount of boost. Yet the thing to watch for is inlet and output diameter sizes. You can fab up some decent powder coated tubes from exhaust tube but the fact that one end is a different size than the other may effect cost and/or preformance.

the first pic is a volvo, the second is donated from a 3.8l ford super coupe, and has a msd module to control the timing for the boost.

the small turbo's are great even at slow speeds on the trail when ya have properly geared axles.

Did you make your own intake for adapting the supercharger to the 2.5?

ya, it could work, IDK what exactly the 850 turbo is... saab is also another good one to look at.

the stock fuel pump is sufficient. it may need to be regulated.

strap on a cone type filter to the compressor intake

the exhaust which spins the turbo consists of an exhaust pipe routed up next to the engine with a 1/2-3/4" plate steel for the turbo to bolt on to and braced to the engine,

the best way is to use an aftermarket electronic controller to get the most out of the turbo.

keep it below 7psi and use premium fuel and the knock sensor will retard the timming as it see's fit. which is a little to much though it works on the older rigs.
