i bought my 53 willys pickup about two years ago and im finally getting around to working on it.... im working on updating the brake system and the front axle / brakes have me scratching my head. the front axle looks like a dana 44 but it dosnt say 44 anyware on it and when i went to pull the front drums off i found out that the spindles and the droms are one and the same.... ive never seen that before! could it be a spicer 25/27?

The closed knuckle Dana 44 has the same outers, including stub shafts, as a Dana 25/27. All of the parts are interchangeable. Except the 44 has bigger brakes than most 25/27 axles.

makes since, im on vacation.. a first in about ten years, my major goal is to get the truck moving and i guess my first step is to make sure its going to stop first so im hving to go through and replace some of the brake slave cylinders. insted of running around trying to find parts for the old drum brakes i replaced it with a newer updated set of drums i had laying around. thanks for all the help guys !!!
