I got a few more pics, but they didn't load tonight, I gotta drive up the road a few miles to get the cell phone to work, I think I'm gonna park it in front of the tv tonight tho instead!

as far as progress goes, i didn't even get started on it till 3:30 today, I had to go pick up my truck from peterbuilt service. it had a sensor go bad..

i did get the right mostly done, aside from brackets and chopping the hood, the hood is by far the easiest part. I think I also have an idea that'll make the fender form with distorting them a little. we'll see how that goes tomorrow, then it'll look kinda funny cuz the other side won't quite be the same, the left is bent up anyway tho from a tree that got in the way.

the washer bottle is definately going next to the master cylinder, it looks like it was made to sit there, I made a braket for it to bolt to the fender and the lower part of the inner fender, I have pics, tho none loaded today. I kinda got side tracked to cuz i'm making a couple sets of brackets for each one I have to make, to make the next job a breeze. for the electronics, i taped threads into the mount holes on the other side, removed the factory bracket, layed it dawn and bolted it to the inner fender with three bolts from underneath, now that was easy after i spent an hour messing around with it. i still gotta pull the left back off to make a hole larger to get it lined up a little better plus get the wires run through the holes i neglected to do, now I can't get my hand down there to get em in the hole... till tomorrow!

now that was a project! I still have to get the rear trimmed. it got dark before I got the lights back in. so there it stands...

washer bottle brackets...

digging out the washerbottle wireing to relocate it..

electronics....
I just tapped the holes, drilled the inner fenders and bolted it down..

I stuck some flat bar in the fire wall mounts....

battery box and fender bracket... I finished it up in the dark so more pics tomorrow...
I hacked off the entire side of the bracket then welded a piece of angle iron on it to reatach it from the bottom in the factory holes. this will also work on the passenger side just the same.

I think tube fenders would really take the cake with the trimed up hood...

as it sits tubes come up to the bottom of my marker lights! I have an extra 3" more clearance than tubes do.

Me likey. I got up alittle late this morning so I choose not to attempt mine yet. I don't have a cold air intake so I think I may wait. I like the ones where they have mounted the filters to the throttle body to save under hood space. When I do choose to do this I will probably be doing the same. Anyone know of any good oil less high flow filters? Do you think tube fenders will work due to the arch of the grill?

lol, no excuses now, i paved the way and it's more time consuming than hard, I must say tho, I bet I had the first fender on an off a 100 times before it finally stayed on.. that was mostly cuz I kept trying to straighten out the bend from smackin a tree.

for my "cold air" I ordered a K&N 7" long round filter with a 2 3/4" connection to put right on the stock tube, I'll be making some sort of box/splash guard for it.. I'm thinking about welding a couple coffee cans together or maybe even try to put it in the cowl.

the rear looks like it's gonna be a project in it's self, I'm game tho!.. lots of material can be removed on the rear side, the top is pushing it to get 1 1/2" trimmed up because of the fenderwell and the rivots holding it to the body. I have one trimmed up as far as i could get it without getting into the rivots, I'm gonna try to make a bunch of cuts and bend it up to get the full 1 1/2" of clearance, or I could pull the seat and hack off the fender well and raise the top 3" then fill the gap.

just a thought... getting to deep into the rear I'd need another fender well the make it real easy.

I think the tube fender would look great, they would have to be specifically made to fit up there. the stock fenders along with getting reformed have to kinda get twisted and bent down. then the bow that is caused is pulled out with the inner fender firewall mount. (the bracket i built with the angle iron).

ya know, i think i saw a custom highline tube fender in adam's photobucket... the cj2ubed thread..

some more pics....

I had to move up the elctronics to get the battery hold down on..

I driled three holes through the plastic and bloted the fuse block to the fender in the stock location...

the bracket that was nearly completely removed to alow the fenders to form.. they will distort some in the front, I think if ya drill and cut a 1/4" slit in the front to allow the fender to overlap the grill on the curve to the headlight bezel it won't distort at all.

I get it now! I shouldn't admit it but I've been trying to figure out what in the heck yall we're doing for a while now, but now I get it!

Awesome Dave! Looks great! Now you just need a new set of Rubicon stickers to go on the hood to replace the ones that got cut off.

So dave.... Coming through the quad cities soon? hmmm. I have something you cannot do without. A jeep needing worked on.

Lol The gaurd has me very busy. I don't have much time for anything else other than shaping my flabby butt instead of my fenders.

Do you know off the top of your head what the measurement is off the external diameter of the throttle body on your 4.0.

Dave I hope you kept your trail rated badge other wise it would'nt be a capable off road rig....

As for the web editor. We know you would'nt understand considering its not a jeep.
