Just picked up a 75 with a 304 it got hot  and I pulled the thermostat out of it, it seemed to help but it still gets too hot how hot should it run with it out, the water pump isn't growling or loosing water what else could cause it to get like this, any suggestions?

wow, when its been in the 50's...

plugged radiator, insuficient fan/shroud...

what kind of fan does it have?

it should have a 180 stat in it and can run a bit over 200 when worked.

with the stat out it can still get hot though it's not forced to run at a normal operating temp.

Use your hand and feel if the radiator has the same temp over the entire surface area. If it's not flowing you'll find cool or cold spots.

well I though they were 5, I've been wrong before an it won't be the last time either...

upload it on the readers rides, use the smal pic properties for the direct link or send it to me, I'll get it done!

if ya have a photobucket.com account ya can use the direct link from a 100x75 photobucket resized pic. copy and paste the link into the avatar url box from the user tools "update account"

no photobucket? send it to mine by e-mail or cell phone... mudb8-.93690@uploads.photobucket.com
be sure to shoot me an e-mail also, I generally can figure out who did what anyhow though its easier if ya just let me know...

ist it dark by 11 yet out there? I've spent a good bit of time in fairbanks and the salcha area...
