Yesterday, I recieved "Forever Black" bumper and trim cleaner and reconditioner to fix my old, stock, faded fender flares. After carefully reading the instructions and using the cleaner on the flares I went to use the "dye" that is supposed to permanently recolor the old faded flares. Not only did I find this product to be extremely crumby. It will take me about 10 more coats to get the original color back into my flares! Now I will admit that on the 1st flare, I messed up and let it sit for a second with some streaking. This looked terrible and made it look like water spots, which won't come off or be covered up with more coats...yikes. Now the other 3 sections of flares came out better than the 1st. But still very disappointing. The color is grey, not black. It comes out looking like a 3 year old finger painted the stuff on there. I'll take some pictures later tonight and post them.
Has anyone else used this product? Did you have a positive or negative outcome? Did I just not do it right or is this stuff that crappy???

Here's some pictures I snapped today...
As you can see here, I messed this one up and let it sit. I wiped up the water that was on it before I took the picture, so the flares are not ***

Here's the extension. Again, I messed this one up...

Here is the right rear flare. not too good looking if you ask me...

And here is the same flare but a different angle...

I just thought this product was terrible. Part of it was my own fault. Even after I did it correctly, it came out like finger painting. From far away they don't look too bad. But, get up close, and its pretty gross.

Wow that looks pretty terrible, I have a product I have used several times called "bumper restore" by autogylm. It works wonderfully it returning the bumpers and fenders and even hard top colors back to the original black. It comes in a tiny bottle, like 5oz or so, and its a thick gel that looks like vim household cleaner.

I'm gonna try to clean em up again and either paint them or just try some armor all. We'll see how that goes. I'm trying to see if I can do it cheap before I go and spend the money on new flares...They can get pricey...

I tried about 3 coats on that real bad one and it wasn't doing any good so I junked it. Yea I remember some one saying something about that shoe polish. It's a good thing the AF just got new uniforms because now I have wayyy too many cans of black shoe polish lying around from the old boots. looks like I'll get some good use out of em.
