I took it out for a mud run and on the drive home the clutch started to feel like it was sticking a little in several places when I let it out. It's a 2001 Wrangler with a 4.0, 5 speed. the tranny light came on for a while, now it's off.  The clutch feels fine if the engine is off.  I checked the fluid and it's a little low, but not much.  I'm topping it off in the morning.  Has anyone experienced this or have any suggestions?  I am grateful for any info, thanks.

Hot spots on the flywheel or pressure plate and/or friction disc glazing can cause a different feeling of the clutch opperation.

If it got wet and muddy, then the clutch could have been slipping causing excssive heat which can lead to hot spots and friction disc glazing.

Or, just getting stuck. Rocking back and forth, slipping the clutch a lot. Mud can be fun. But it can also be draining on the drivetrain if it is thick and sticky.

oh a stick IS better!

I just read a blog about someone who's having to pull pans, and drill and tap all kinds of holes just to get rid of some water!

We can just pull a little plug.............. all done! haha

Thanks for the suggestions.  After a good hosing off of the pedal and undercarriage It seems to be OK.   This kind of luck never happens to me.  Usually it's something(t-case last time)knocked off by a rock or log. I was afraid I trashed the clutch.  Time for a lift kit, yeah that'll help .  Now for the hours of cleaning...
