what all do i need to fully lift my jeep xj out side of a lift kit

It depends which kit you buy, and how much you lift it? what kit are you looking at?

over 3.5".... slip yolk eliminator and a cv driveshaft.

im not wanting more then a three inch lift but im not to sure what kit to get

What objectives are you trying to meet. If it's bigger tires, what size?
Cherokees are tough becasue they have such a small wheel well opening. It takes a lot of lift to get a little bigger tire. Fender trimming might be something to look at if you want a bigger tire and only 3" of lift.
Definitely the cool way to go, low with big tires.
