yeah, I've always though it would be awesome to get rid of the track bar, just not so sure about the effects on handling.
theres a possibility the tri link wouldn't fit in there without the lift.... mabey.
heres a pic.

Um I really don't know how to thank you enough. That helps out alot. another question, the hood flares for tire coverage legality. any issues getting it inspected?

...well I may have to plead the fifth on this one. I will say that it passed safety inspection in North Carolina a few years back which is mandatory in the county where I lived. I also can say that I have never been pulled over and I have done quite a bit of on-road driving through NC, and Ohio (where I live now and the Jeep is licensed and registered). The TJ is technically my DD. I have also driven it to Michigan (where I was pretty sure I was going to get pulled over near the Mounds Offroad Park, but I wasn't). I have also driven it a bit in West Virginia with no issues, although I was warned by some local wheelers that it might attract some unwanted attention.
I have a feeling that out west I would be more of a target for Johnny Law in this Jeep. I also have added front LED signals in the grill and under the mini fenders which may help with legality, and the steel wheels that I am running now with the Dana 44s helped suck the tires back under the Jeep a bit although there is still not much tire coverage up front. I think I only have an inch and a half or so per side sticking out past the fender flares in the rear.
I think the low stance makes the jeep look less extreme (and helps it avoid attracting attention), although I have followed some pretty big jeeps with V-8s and larger tires down the trail without too many stucks! It does work well.
I also think that it would be pretty easy to make some trimmed fender flares fit the hood and mini fenders up front for some more front tire clearance and legality.
hope this helps. -Verne

the high line type tube steal fender kit that got put on the YJ in the stock YJ on 40's project looks like it has some real nice inner fenders and tire coverage, the glass' hood is probably a bit cheaper though...

actually you can run 37's under the 4" with longer bumpstops, enough front spacer height up front to level the stance and trimming to the flare mounts...
I run 34's under a rancho hd 2.5". the previous set of tires were 35's.

If anyone is interested i put 33x12.5s on my 05 unlimited tj/lj w/ only a 2" susp lift (springs n shocks). It was nice b/c this seems to be the limit w/o having to deal w/ dropped pitmans, etc. and driveshaft angle probs. Actually drives better than stock. Only 2 probs, first, the kit I got from Rustys is nice but the bushings are crap and crack. I had to replace them almost immed. they sent me several but many cracked on installation. design is bad I think. Second, need wheel spacers from spiderco toeliminate rubbing. now has wider stance/ more stable. Spacers are great n well built. The lj s need bigger wheels to look "right" I think than the tj s.
