Ok hopefully somebody can help. Everytime I drive my jeep for 10 maybe 15 min it starts trying to die unless I put it in neutral. Then When I accellerate it sputters and has died a few times. I figured vapor lock but the temp outside has been cooler and same thing. If I turn it off after, it doesn't like to stay running till I get it moving. Once I slow same thing.

I was thinking float myself. If I stand on it it, it will jump out like a champ then after the initial jump it will go back to sputtering for sometime 3 4 hundred feet then be fine. If I give it short bursts it will die when I let off. Fuel filter is only like 2 month old. I have been told by a few I could use a little dextron to clean the tank out. Is that true

I was told it would smoke BAD but iy wouldn't do damage. I heard it a few times over the years but never trusted it enough to actually do it. Right now I am willing to try what ever it takes. I can't barely drive her anymore

i't prolly the carb, I personally don't use the AFB carbs cause they are a pain.
I have an old holley ecconomaster, I'll bring down for ya if I can find it. or ya can pick up a float/ metering rod set for what ya have and I'll fix er up.

Mud the traveling mechanic. You know you've found a good natured person when they will drive many miles and fix your jeep along the way.
The dexron trick is great for diesels. Don't dump straight down the intake to feed it as the idle will go up to about 5,000 while knocking all the way up. It's very scary. It may increase power. Ive never compared it that way. Its a good conditioner of seals in the fuels systems of diesels. We run Jp8 alot which is extremely dry and will eat seals. It works well if you run "farm gas" dyed diesel. For 26 gallons I use a quart.
The benefits of dexron in a gas Fuel system would be the same. Cleaning and conditioning. I wouldn't try it on high compression gas engines at all. It won't burn it the same way. If you do you will notice alot of white smoke emitting from the exhaust. In all I wouldnt try it at all in a gas motor. Id try finding the real problem and fixing it. Ive heard of people using it to free stuck valves but ive never ran into it.
I break stuff.
