I have read many write ups and how to's on doing this swap, but I have not found any information on anyone who has swapped Tcases from the same Year and Model.  Let me explain.  I have a 95 Grand Cherokee with the 5.2l V8, 249 Tcase, and the 46rh tranny. The VC has gone bad in my 249.  I have ordered 231 transfer case from a 95 Grand Cherokee.  My question is should these be a direct swap or may I still possibly have to swap input gears or even the driveshaft.  I have read the how to's on swapping the input gears, but if I have to change the driveshaft what size will I need and where can I find them.  Thanks for your help.  

'93-'95 Grands with the 46R have a 23 spline medium input gear. It is not used for anything else. Most 231s will have a 21 or 23 spline input and be either short or long. Only the Grand used the medium length. So, you'll probably need to change the input gear, but that is super easy to do.

For your drive line advice, call Tom Woods. He is super nice and super knowledgable. 4xshaft.com. You'll just be able to measure with a tape and Tom will advise you.  

Are you saying most because these are not normally found in the Grands?  Because the Tcase I am getting is coming out of a Grand of the same year.  I am not sure which transmission it originally was hooked up to, but I do know it came out of a 95 grand.  

If it came out of a Grand, then there is a good chance it will not need an input gear. Most Grands had an auto tranny and that's the decider.

The only kink might be your shifter gate. You might need the shift gate from the donar Grand console. I'm not sure if there is a gate between the 4 part-time and the 4 full-time shift. The 231 in a TJ/YJ/XJ does not have a gate between 2wd and 4 hi. But it does to go into neutral.

Does your's have a gate between 4 part-time and 4 full-time?  

Novak conversions sells a real nice shifter that gets rid of all the goofy linkage and makes the TC shift really nice. I would be inclined to getting one if you have any shifter issues. Cost $138.

I appreciate all of your help.  Since all 95 ZJ were auto transmissions I have a good feeling everything will match up.  I think and hope in the long run all the extra money I spent on the Tcase is going to save me a lot of headache.
