4 banger TJ, stock. i plan on putting an OME suspension kit and 32's on it. i have been reading that 4.1 gears would be the best for it. is it necessary? would 4.56 be better? this is a daily driver and i do off road but nothing extreme.

4.56 would be best, since it's a 4cyl it probably has 4.10's in it. not good unless ya drive over 70 mph all the time.

I believe the 4 banger comes stock with 4.10.
I know alot of people that run 33's on the stock geared 4 bangers. They say in 2 wheel drive it really sucks up hills and you basically are stuck with only using 4 gears. but Off road in 4 low it's not to bad, you just need to keep the RPMs up to get over big rocks and roots.
You will have an easier time crawling over rocks and roots with the 4.56 or 4.88 (I'd recomend 4.88 incase you ever move up tire size)and you'll be able to use 5th gear again.
I hear that 4.88 w/ 33inch tires will perform closest to stock levels.

yes they do, in fact with going to a 4.88 and 33's from stock 4.10's leaves the spedo pretty accurate.
4.56's and 32's run ya around 2450rpm @65 just how the 4 banger likes it.

I wouldn't use the 4.88's unless ya fully intend to go larger than 32's or only drive 55mph

This is a nice chart to help you decide your gears for your tire size.

I say dana, there's others as ya know, all reputable...
your very welcome for the gear ratio calculator, many are mislead by the "chart" when figuring out the correct ratio's...

that kit has it all!
I just put one on, be sure to ask for the longer shocks though. for the 32's ya don't need to get the body lift either, unless of course ya plan on 33-35's
