I have a 2001 jeep grand cherokee 6 cycl 4.0L. Car was running fine yes. night. got up this morning to start the car and it wouldnt start. took the starter and alternator to get tested both past with flying colors. i have gas in the car. I dont believe im getting spark to the plugs.. was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what it could be..

coil? cap? rotor? wires? plugs? did you replace any of that?

well theres spark plugs but there no distrubutor... and if there is one i m not sure where its located to be honest with u.. this is my first jeep it was a hand me down and im just tryin to get it up runnin.. so i apperciate and help u can give me

ok, i didnt pay attention to the vehicle. so, did you replace the strip of coils, i belive they are all linked together.

they are linked together and when i had someone crank to see if i was gettin spark from the coils nothings came through at all.. but there was no coarsion on the cooils.. but like i said no spark.. so would u suggest that i replace that??

that would be my guess, how many miles are on the motor?

166,000 miles on it. i just had the water pump and temp sensor replaced also the serpintine belt and like i said it ran good.. then i went to start it and got nothing and its crankin just not turning over..... so im clueless as to what the problem is and i dont want to spend money on swappin out the parts and not fixing the problem if u no what i mean

check for codes, It could be the cps.

Don't just start replacing parts. There are several reasons that there could be no spark. And it's probably not the coils.
There is a distributor drive even though it's coil on plug. It houses the cam position sensor. There's just not a cap and wires. It is in the original position on the passenger side of the block. The ECM uses the crank position sensor, the cam position sensor and the automatic shut down relay to control the coils.
If all the coils are not tesing out, it is more likely the ECM, CPS, Cam position sensor, or ASD relay.
In the factory service manual, there is an extensive test for determining if the coils check out.
