i have an 01 tj. who ever had jeep before me cut the plug off the passenger side coming from the light and had the wires pused into the connector coming from jeep. i've tried to just hard wire it to no luck. i'm thinking about going to led's, but am not sure how wire it up? or how can i get my existing lights to work?

One wire is the running lights the other is the brake and the other is the back up lights.

You can use a volt meter to see which ones have power when the brake is on, the jeep is in reverse, and with just the running lights on.

I went to northern tool and got two flush mount LED trailer lights ( like 15 bucks each) and drilled a 4 inch hole in the body and have some good looking (fully waterproof) lights! I did lose my reverse lights but that will soon be solved with a white set of LED's.

i have a wiring diagram and have tried it like it said, but nothing. when i hooked it up the turn signal would come when i turned on the left turn signal. and both bulbs (reverse and running lights) would burn at same time. I really don't want to cut a hole into the jeep right now, i found some led's at tractor supply that i can mount, they are kinda like the originals.

Ok well if it's wired right then I can only think of one other thing it could be..........

Sometimes when the bulbs in the OE light go bad the two fillaments will touch and cause all kinds of problems like your describing so if you don't have the LED's in yet that might be it.

i switched out the bulbs. still no luck. i don't want to get led's if i can't get this fixed.coming from the light there are 3 wires, coming from jeep there is 4 wires. is there something in the plugs that does something i'm missing?

thats just weird!!!!!

I know in my TJ the wiring for the tail lights runs inside the jeep down the driver side and then down through a hole in the back left corner of the wheel well. Then after splitting to run the driver side light (the same wires) go between the gas tank and the body panel right under the tailgate to the passenger side (it's tied in there with four of those factory zipties)

basically the wires that run the driver side are the same as the ones that run the passenger side so you might have something cut or shorting out somewhere between the dash and the lights or better yet between the driver side and the passenger side.

Does the driver side work correctly?

if ya have the brake light working and still no signal, ya have a switch or flasher unit problem, the brake and turn signal use the same wire.

is the right front signal flashing? that will take ya to the overide switch if it is,
