I ended up going with

http://www.roughcountry.com/jeep_tj_4.html

for a number of reasons, mainly because it comes complete with lower control arms as well as track bar drop bracket. Also the fact that it was the ONLY kit I could find that offers different springs for drivers and passenger side... Other kits offering this cost much much more $$. I know its pushing short arm limit but reviews seemed pretty good.

also take measurements of the springs right after you put them in and then after about a thousand or two miles take a measurement and then tell us what tha meausrments are and then you will realize why we tried getting you to bite on a quality kit such as OME, Tera, or RE.

I guess everyone has their own opinion =)

I went to a reputable jeep specialty place locally and they said they won't even stock RE gear, they said its probably some of the worst gear on the market.

OME stuff comes from Australia so none of the shops in my area stocks it as it costs a fortune in duty to get it here. (I am in Canada remember)

Ill take measurements for ya though fastjeep =)

don't get yer panties in a knot! I haven't had any problems with the rough country springs and I've done alot of em mostly cause of the price makes em affordable to go ahead and get the  sye and drivelines done also. the ride isn't as nice on the 4" is about it.

...and the OME springs are different for each corner. Longer in the right rear for controlling torque load differences, and longer in the left front to offset the rear under torque and the affects of driver only weight.

None of the 4x4 shops in the USA carries OME either... and that's because they can't mark it up like all the big name kits. They are mostly just available on the internet 4x4 shops.

Here is one more thing to keep in mind. And this isn't necessarily to you Dustin, but to anyone reading this.

If a hammer is the only tool in your tool box, every problem looks like a nail. No OME in their toolbox.

It's important to find independent, objective advice. And that is usually harder to come by from someone who has something to sell.

Now, I'm not saying that the guys at the 4x4 shop are bad guys, but they have experience with what they sell. So, it becomes easy for them to recommend one pruduct over another that they don't have any experience with.

Dustin, you will be very disappointed. Take it back. Your jeep will handle like crap (bump steer) and ride like crap (cheapo springs and shocks) and have drivline vibes (no sye). For a 4" kit, it is hundreds of dollars short of being a complete 4" kit.

The Rough Country kit is the epitome of everything being talked about in this thread. Take it back. You will spend a whole bunch more money to try to fix the problems you're going to be dealing with. Some of the problems will be because of the kit, and others will be because of non addressed items.

its all good, no harm done. I just get different answers from every single place i look so it makes it very difficult for someone with no experience in the products to make a decision.

ftgiles, I understand where you are coming from. I have a SYE that should arrive here today as well. I am not doubting you at all. So many sources, so many different answers.

The shop i bought this lift from has been selling locally here for 23 years. They have sold hundreds of rough country kits and they said they generally have a great response from them. They said they used to sell RE and they had a terrible response so they dropped the brand. This kit was their recommendation based on customer satisfaction they have had.

No front track bar provision and a dropped pitman arm will produce bump steer.

The tack bar and the drag link must stay parallel. If you drop the pitman, the track bar mount has to be dropped the same amount.

The front tracking will be offset to the driver's side close to 1.5". That means your Jeep will dog track down the road.

If you only want to spend $500 dollars on a lift then, that's a 2" lift. Over two inches and a lot of things start to become issues that will need to be addressed.

Nobody here is selling you anything. They are giving you recommendations based on their own experiences and the experiences of others they know.

I know many people who have been bit by the 4" 500 dollar lift. If it's about 4" of lift, you'll get that, but if it's about a nice driving Jeep after it's lifted 4" by a $500 dollar lift, you won't get that.

If you're like most of us you'll only be done modifying  your Jeep when you sell it. So, this will most likely just be your first step in that never ending "I just need one more thing, and then I'm done" process.

Thanks ftgiles, I appreciate the specifics. Now will a SYE help that dogtrack problem at all or is that just for driveline vibration prevention? I wonder if i can find a front track bar relocation kit.

the sye is only driveline angle.

the rough country kit should have the track bar, front and rear relocation brackets.

I don't like relocation brackets at all. for the things I do they put to much leverage on the factory mounts, both front and rear. the RE kits have the cure for that along with the AEV/Nth Degree solid adjustable w/frame brace track bar..

ftgiles will add my results aren't typical and he's somewhat right on the money there!

I can't remember if I already posted my rear that I tore off of the axle or not so here it is... and I'll add a front relocation I fixed/actually replaced with a nth degree bar bar anothe jeeper..
