i keep seein flat fender kits, are those kits limited to the front wheel wells or do they also help with the rear wheel wells?  I just got this jeep 2 months ago so I have no idea about anything with these, I've owned only pick ups b4.  someone please enlighten me.

just the front... there are some rear tube flare kits. they cover the whole quarter panel.

some guys trim out the stock fenders and flares for the flattie look.

ok thanks. so another question. the flat fenders enlarge the space of the wheel well thus allowing for a bigger tire to be put on with out a lift, or atleast thats wut i've been told.  what kind of modifications would have to be done to the rear wheel well to allow the bigger tire, if any are needed? and do you really not need a lift with the kit?

The main reason for the flatties is extra strength (as in tubular construction), but they do open the wheel well up. As for the rear, you can trim a substantial amount of sheet metal, allowing for a larger tire. Just get out the sawsall or grinder with a metal cut off wheel. Depending on the size of tire you want, you'll still probably want some lift.

yep, the rear has some triming room, 31 and 32" rubber can fit under the flat fenders with stock suspension and a bumpstop adjustment.
the flatties don't have a sharp ridge to cut tires when they do get into em.

aevconversions.com has a highline fender kit for the front and rear that'll run 33's on stock suspension for the cost of a lift that requires no drive line mods and no unwanted vibrations or harsh ride.

by the time ya get done with even a 3.5" suspension lift properly, ya have a bunch of money and parts tied up in it,... lift, drive shaft, sye kit... ect.

You can fit some pretty big tires with no lift. JP did an article 2 months ago putting 40's on a yj with no lift.
