Is the check engine light on?

If its an automatic I would immediatley check the fluid. Make sure the engine is running and in neutral. Note the color of the fluid. Light clear red, ok. Brown is to be concerned with. Smell it and see if it smells burnt. Your also checking the level.  Also check and make sure your trans shifter linkage is still in place properly.

You may have a plugged catalytic converter. You may notice a difference in the amount of exhaust coming from the pipe. Sometimes its cool even after running a bit. Also have someone rev the engine up and see if theres ashy like substance floating in the air. Usually stringy like. The pipe is extremely black with black dust above the pipe.

Is the fluid on the axle alone or has it run down the drive shaft from the t-case? If it has run down what color is it? If the axle had been going bad you would have noticed many other things before this that you would have been posting on. just in case pop the diff fill plug and stick your finger in to check the fluid level. Should be a 1/4 of in an inch from the tip of your finger or at the first knuckle.

Make sure your t-case linkage hasn't lost the c-clip and you are still shifted into gear. Easy check is to engage 4wd and see if the light comes on the dash.

In case of a manual transmission, Im unaware of the setup of this transmission. It's possible that you may have lost your clutch. I would check and see if you have a clutch master cylinder and make sure it has fluid as well. IF its low you should add dot 3 brake fluid to it and bleed the slave as you would brakes. It is located on the fire wall between the brake master cylinder and the fender I believe. The bleeder is on the drivers side of the transmission I believe.

If it makes a loud abnormal grinding noise at starting you should pop of the inspection cover to see if the ring gear on the flex plate hasn't broken away from the center. This sometimes simulates a power loss until it breaks the rest of the way. Depending on how it does break I have seen them still able to start.

If everything checks out shift into 4wd and see if it moves. If it does don't drive it and check the fluid in your transfer case. If its empty try refilling it and driving it in 2wd. If it should happen to move without a groaning whining noise your good after you fix your leak. If not you will need a pro.

Good luck and update us as you go.

Everything I have posted is a good way to go about  finding what maybe wrong. Im guessing from your lack of lingo that you are not that mechanically inclined. I maybe dead wrong with this assumption. Can you tell me if you can here the tic tic with the jeep in nuetral or not. Does it get louder with rpm? What end of the jeep is it coming from? Is the check engine light on? Does the jeep spudder or buck while taking off? Unfortunatley I can't hear or see the jeep for myself. The more information you provide the more helpful this is. How many miles are on the jeep, what type of jeep, what engine, what trans, what axles? What from my original post have you tried so far?

no tic tic is when it takes off and it was my clutch pressure plate and throwout bearing i found out too late but i ordered one and gonna put it on in a couple days and i tried all of your origanal post and it was all ok but just my clutch wore out it still had stock clutch after about 122000 miles so it was time to change it anyway and its a 2002 4.0 i6 standard and i dont konw about the axels maybe dana 30 i think whatever is stock on it and i am not mechanicaly inclined its just i dont know all the words and i wasnt sure haha but i believe it is gonna be all fixed now i just dont know about the fluid on my axel my back one i think my seal is cracked or something i aint sure but i will look at that after i put in the new clutch but thats all the problems i have and i think the tires might be affecting my clutch too i have 33x12.5s so they are kinda big for a stock clutch and drive train that wasnt serviced right for 90000 miles

ok....about the fluid on your axle, is it pooling on the ground after you've been parked for awhile? if it's just "staining", i wouldn't get too worried
