Have you seen the Garmin Quest II. Jeep sells it under the name Trail Guide. It mounts in the top tray of the dash. I have this and it works really well. You can carry it along when hiking or put it in the craddle for driving and charging. No cords or windshield suction cups.
Jeeps sells it for $800. But you can buy the Garmin for less than $400 and buy the mount from Jeep for around $120. That's $520 instead of $800.
I can give you all the sources and part numbers if you want.

5191114-AA Chrysler part number for the docking pod. $120.00
5191115-AA Chrysler part number for the wiring harness. $40.00. You don't need the wiring harness. You only need to solder a positive and negative to the power prongs on the ic board. The harness has a plug that plugs onto the ic board and the then plugs onto the stock radio. If you don't have a stock radio, don't buy the harness. If you have the stock radio, it's plug and play.
I got the Quest II from TigerGPS for $379. Do a search, you might find it for less. Beware there is an older Quest that cost less. Make sure you get the Quest2.

The other thing that you can do is find a two prong connector from an old computer. There are many in an old computer, just find one that's the right size, clip it off with several inches of wire remaining.
When you get your dash pod, it will be very obvious which is positive and which is negative. The wires are black and red. It comes with directions also, showing you where the connector is located on the little ic board.

Do you have the docking dash pod? Are you looking at it? Do you want me to take a picture of mine and post it here?
