The TJ has a low pinion as opposed to the YJ has a high pinion.
Remove the YJ shift fork, put in TJ axle shafts which have the bigger u-joints (297x instead of 260x) and you will have the strongest D30.

I have an 04 wrangler x, Im looking for gears for it. Is it the short pinion design? Im looking at a catalog sorry or I would just ask the supplier. Don't want to call if I don't have the cash. Also they are not open. They list gears by HD d30, Reverse Rotation D30, D30, d30 short pinion.

They are TJ gears. I know this doesn't help and they are different. I'm surprised they don't refer to them as TJ. They're not HD or reverse rotation, but D30 or D30 short, IDK... sorry... I thought you meant low or high pinion and maybe you were think'n swap'n.

I was thinking of swapping for an HP 30 out of an xj before. Ive ruled that out a bit. If im going to do that kind of work I will be looking to go much bigger. Looking for deeper gears right now for the 8.8 and the 30. Im looking at a shop catalog for Randy's. Im now going to there site. Maybe that will shed some light.

Their site lists them by TJ for sure. What gear you going to? Interested in a TJ D30 OX with 4.56 gears, complete housing and everything?

Well I was looking for steeper with the automatic. Although I do have a friend that drives RRock legends class with a d30. We won't go into what is wrong with that but anyway what were you thinking for a price? Just for knowledge it is the short version for 97 to 04.
