If you're airing up tires:
Budget is a cigarette lighter deal. Many avaialable for $50 - $500. The cheap ones takes more than 30 minutes to air up four tires. The more expensive ones reduce that proportionately.
A powerTank will fill up four tires in five minutes. A charge will do approx 40 tires. A charge costs $10. Will run air tools ok and cost $375.
A Kilby will do it all and cost $1200.
I use a PowerTank and carry a Makita 18v driver. The Makita gets used daily, not just for Jeep'n. I have a $35 inverter from WalMart for charging batteries, but have never needed it. The new Li-ion Makita batteries do a lot of work and two come with the driver. Carry a breaker bar. Break things loose and then use the driver.

i'm learning now that the sanden unit is still useable... without much work... and it's probably easier to mount up in a newer jeep if it doesn't already have A/C

If your going to do it, get a York.
If your not running air tools all day or being depended upon to fill everyone's tires in the group, it's an expensive setup to do it right.
If you don't have a winch already, the Warn power plant is a far better way to spend some cash.
Otherwise, PowerTank anyone?

these last couple of websites have some great information about turning the sanden compressor into an onboard air system... it really opened my eyes... and gave me a bit more hope about using my existing setup... especially the tip about using the grease zerk... so i was wrong in my statement before about just getting rid of the existing A/C compressor and switching to a york

Hey gotmike,
I'm glad to see you're onboard now, but after you edit all your posts, it kind of makes the whole thread seem a little wierd???

yeah... but i was hoping more to create a thread that other people could look at for the info... instead of just to see me being an idiot for a moment... and it doesn't really look weird... i only changed a couple of things...

Are you working on a turbo? A 1 ton full floater 60? Tell us more about your project. In fact start a new thread and give it a meaningful title so people can see what you're up to!
