spun out winch cable

it's pretty dificult to tie off the cable good enough to pull after a hold down clamp breaks. a good o'l clove hitch works though after ya get done fighting the kinked up cable,

I fixed mine yesterday with a cordless drill, 1/4" tap chucked in the drill... yes I always have the drill, bits, and a cheap tap and die set in the jeep...



I drilled it at an angle cause it was the best I could do without tearing apart the winch at the time, and it wont' hirt a thing..



chucked up the tap in the driver and ran it in and out carefully till it went all the eay through...




I got lucky and didn't have to go buy a new round hex driven 1/4" bolt, I found it in a left over Rancho t-case drop shifter linkage kit. after cutting it down to about 3/4" long and grinding the threads clean I installed the cable into the clamp, then wound up the cable....
