I seem to be posting alot lately...But anyway, 94 YJ. For the last few times that I've started it, and not 100% of the time, maybe 3/5 times, the engine stays down near 3-500 rpms, and almost dies out, obviously, until I step on the gas a little..when I do, it revs, drops down back to normal idle, and stays there. Anyone got a clue as to what the matter is there, and should I just deal or fix it?

Does it do it when the engine is cold or warmed up?

Yunno, I never really thought to figure that out. When It first happened it happened right when I started it up, cold, took it just a few dozen yards, shut if off, washed it, started it up, started fine that time, back up to where it was parked, and had my cousin try to back it in cuz he sucks at stick and is 17. he tried a few times, stalled it a few times, and on all the times after he stalled it, it idled that low..so it was kindaish warmed up, but not much.

I didn't notice any check engine lights or anything...and no, it sounds the same as it does at those rpms when you just put it in gear and let it stall out.

i have the 2.5 4cyl in mine, and i guess that the yj has a reputation for getting vacuum leaks in the fuel lines, i have had A LOT of problems with mine. it could be a few things though -vacuum leak, although that should mean it would idle high, not low,..
-or you could try removing your intake manifold cover and spray carb cleaner onto the valve with the engine running. it could be sticking shut, mine was sticking open.
well those are my best guesses... I'd leave it alone unless its really buggin you. hope i helped -nick

a quicker way would be to remove the air cleaner hose from the throttle body, with the engine off ,spray carb cleaner into the thottle body. take a lint free rag and wipe off the excess spray and varnish. fire up your motor and spray some in. check your air filter as well. maybe dump some stp into the gas tank at your next fill up.
