fastjeep: thanks very much .I appreciate all your help!! that kit says you can run 35's on it but it is the same lift as the deluxe kit just with a few additional parts. Do you think you could fit 35's on that without any additional modifications?? I would LOVE to run 35's but I live in an apartment and my underground parking clearance MAX height is 6'6" and from the posts earlier in this thread it sounds like you can't run 35's without 6 inches of lift?? or serious fender cutting?

Any chance your passing through vancouver mudb8? =) Save me few hundred $$ on install..

ftgiles, so your saying to get different shocks than the ones that come with the kit? will DPG include those shocks if i request em?

I haul up to bellingham/blaine once in a while. I live in portland, when i'm home its usually for several days.

35's will fit nicely with the kit. the only additional mods'll be making sure the bumpstops are long enough to keep the tires out of the fenders.
add a motor mount kit in there also to help the drive line angle and minimize hacking up the fan shroud.

the thing with the shocks is for articulation, if all ya do with it is normal driving, mud and trails you'll never know the difference in having the longer shocks.

hopefully when fastjeepwrangler gets around to putting on the bodylift he'll post some pics so we can see the difference.

with my lift and 34's, which is nearly the same, I can drive through the the rental return structure at the PDX with the light bar on the jeep.

Mud I seen your recommendation for the motor mount kit in an earlier post, However it would be very expensive to have to pay labour on motor mount kit would it not?? I know the kit is cheap $60 or so. I am just remembering putting motor mounts in my integra and it cost a good chunk of cash =p

That frustrates me because I went to a reputable shop here in vancouver for offroad modifications and they told me that I would need at least 6 inches of lift to clear 35's without rubbing and I was looking at close to $3000 for the lift and installation. I should state that was for a 4.5 inch BSD kit. I guess I need to find a better shop. 6 inches of lift and 35's puts my jeep at like 6'7.

Anyway I think im gonna go with the 33's because 35's on stock axles is scary. I was just wondering how they fit those 35's under there when the only difference between the deluxe kit and the ultimate kit is adjustable track bars?? Excuse my newbie knowledge level...

actually you can do the mount kit next to the sidewalk with yer jack thats under the seat

the 6" is/was the popular way to go, it's great if your gonna be catching some air cause it has more uptravel before the axle hits the bumpstops, so if yer turning the jeep into a prerunner the 5.5-6" is most definately the way to go. other wise a simple modified 2-3.5" lift is all ya really need. the big plus is the jeep needs fewer mods and retains the factory like handling and ride.

I originally had big dreams of a 6" and 35's cause thats what everybody said ya have to have to fit the 35's, (It just aint so!)
then started trying things out. starting with 3/4" spacers and 33's. then got to a 2.5" with maxxis buckshots 315x75-16's, wore those out and got the trXus 34's.

honestly, the no lift tj on 35's from jp magazine is what made me think why won't it fit and be fully functional?

my guess is they are a reputable shop and can only assume what yer after, so to minimize problems and complaints the 6" was recomended.  CYA..

I don't plan on catching any air =) Basically I just do trails , mud from time to time and mostly rock crawling ,  which is why I wanted the 35's because I had 33's on my pathfinder and I was scraping the skid plates all day long

I can do the full install with just my little pump-jack ? I have floor jacks that I would use..but the body lift?  I don't need spring compressors or anything? If the instructions that come with the kit are that detailed I might just have to install it myself =)

the instructions are pretty good, and yes ya could do the entire install with a little pump jack, a bunch of blocks of wood and a 1/2" cordless drill. the body lift is easy unless ya have a stuck bolt or two. the ultimate OME/JKS only requires four holes drilled... two for the bumpstops up front, two more for the quick disconnect storage hangers and the track bar frame bracket tapered hole enlarged to 9/16".

the springs dont require a spring compressor up front or the rear when the sway bar, drag link, shocks and track bar are unhooked, they'll almost fall out. (pushing the limits for the front brake lines)

if ya are rock crawling make sure ya get the longer shocks, In fact I'd measure it eye to eye with the axle sitting on the bumpstops and get the longest shocks ya can without bottoming out the piston. (after the longer stops are installed)

a stock tj on 31's 'll make a jacked up pathfinder wish it hadn't laughed at it.

You also might consider hooking up with a Jeep club. You don't have to be anymore active than you want, you'll meet some cool people and they plan cool outings.

It's really strange, people will invite you over to their shop to work on your Jeep, buy you beer and pizza, turn wrenches with you and enjoy your company.

You'll want to return the favor of course, but you'll learn, save money and have fun.

here's something that just showed up in my e-mail..

http://www.roughcountry.com/newsletters/customer_7.html?utm_source=custletter7&utm_medium=email

thats cheap! almost the cost of spacers.

the 1000 rti ramp score suggests the shocks are about as long as the stock control arms can reach

the mention of 31x10.5 tires is cause of the 5.5" stock backspaced wheels
up to 32" cause thats what the bumpstop length will allow with plenty more uptravel than the stocksuspension... I have no Idea on the ride quality or spring strength/quality of rough country. reading through the press release they're making some promising claims on the progressive rate springs for ride quality..

Just curious with 2.5 inches of lift, do you need to address the track bars?

Here is 315/75/16 (34" by the tape) with 2" OME springs, 1.5" JKS ACOS, and 1" bodylift looks like.

you can get away without the track bar adjustment on the 2.5. it causes close to 1/2-5/8" shift on each axle though.
