Doing a tranny swap and looking to build an ultimate Dana 300. Anyone have experience with doing the build up vs an Atlas. The cost of all the parts (4:1 gears, rebuild kit, heavy duty front/rear output shafts, clocking kit and twin stick shifter) is around 1600-1700 bucks + shipping. I can get an Atlas with all the goodies for 2350 shipped.......maybe I just answered my own question. Just wondering about the strength of the Dana (built)vs the Atlas.

atlas is stronger but the dana is smaller.. each not by much IMO. with S&H+ time to fix theyre prob even in value. im in the middle of my 300 flip, upgrade, and rebuild. it all up to you and what you want.... too close to call

Atlas has a larger case, weighs 110lbs vs 85lbs for the 300. The Atlas is stronger, has better bearings, and better oiling. It also might create floor clearance issues, so include that in the effort category.
Atlas also has a lifetime warranty for the case and gears.
