basically the shop is lieing to you. RE is one of the best brand of lift kits (notice i said lift kits on the market, OME is not a lift kit). RE is way the hell better than RC. i garuntee you if you keep the kit you wont be happy with it, go get a decent brand it wont cost you that much more money. i say if you wat a lift kit, go get the RE, Tera, Nth, or Rancho. if you want a buick go get the medium duty OME. i doubt your going to take the advise, but ftgiles and Mudb are some of the godfatheers of this website. they both do their reseach and know their stuff. we arent telling you this stuff just cuz we hate the words Rough Country.(its wierd RC kits are kind of ironic... ROUGH is wat your going to get)

lets just let em decide on that, I've said before I haven't had problems with the rough country kits, it really depends on your expectations..
some guys upgrade before they even get the new stuff broke in right after they discover the potential of the tj. for now it offers him what he wants... a lift and for almost the same money spent a sye and drive shaft can be had for starter. later he may choose to work on the ride quality or go higher/lower, maybe along with a tummy tucker or whatever, the choices are endless.

I'm running a 4" procomp on 35" boggers. It came with the jeep so I wont bore you with complaints. The ride is great considering its on boggers, but I don't like the factory uppers or non adjustable lowers, and non adjustable trackbars, and no swaybar disco. I hope in the very near future to upgrade only the arms to a rubicon express or rockkrawler long arms. I too searched high and low for the cheapest, and got what I payed for. very very minimal flex. I have to agree with mudb8, most of us start cheap, due to the wifes allowed budget. But you really hear it when you have to buy all the upgrades to get what u originally wanted. With some fender triming hoping to toss the 35's for 37 to 40's

ya, yet another example of a eccono lift with a happy owner.
the lower don't really need to be adjustable, the adjustables are great for modifying the wheel base. the uppers are better suited to making the pinion and caster adjustments needed.
I got new RE uppers in the front of mine before it even got lifted, they got bent/twisted and broke completely in half while pounding on a muddy hill climb. I drove er 25 miles home with no connected uppers in the front, that was fun. it ended up costing me 385 bucks, the dealer said the warranty was void cause I drove it off road, since I was gonna have to pay I had the RE arms put on... it was hauled to the dealer with mud caked/packed in every part of the undercarriage. had they told me that, it would have never even went in. bear in mind this was a brand new 03 rubi with less than 500 miles on it.
OOps got carried away ther!

I had a light duty lift on my tj it had some decent springs rancho shocks stock control arms it was about 2.5" of lift I ran 31" BFG AT's and then I got the currie antirock sway awaybar and that made a big difference keep in mind I had a sye it flexed real well.
5.5 rubi longarm, dana 44's, cromoly shafts,currie HD stering,currie antirock,warn powerplant,warn bumpers,4.88 35's

Ok so lift is installed, I have tons of pics but I just bought a new computer which arrives on tuesday so I do not have a computer for the time being I will upload on tuesday for everyone...
As far as the rough country lift goes. Its decent. I don't have anything but body lift experience to compare it to so I cant say what its better than or worse than. Flex is almost non existant, needs sway bar disconnnects badly. The ride is a lot rougher than stock suspension. I had the 33's put on and had 1 day before the alignment and I was REALLY upset with the ride and handling but once i had the alignment done it got a lot better.
There is a small driveline vibration under acceleration and engine braking. The harder acceleration the more vibrations but its not really that bad. SYE is going in next week hopefully eliminates the vibrations all together.
Other than rougher ride and no flex I don't really have any complaints about the setup, it went installed painless and clears my 33's with tons of room. It was cheap, and I can't complain for the price. I could get 35s under there with the little amount of flex i have.
Like mentioned earlier in the thread I think I have begun the journey which is the jeep. I now have a list of about 10 more things I want to add. Thinking maybe it would have been easier to buy a rubicon seeing as lockers and dana 44's are in that list =p Thanks guys! Pics soon to come!

the poor amount of flex is from the sway bar, unhook it and you'll have a bunch of flex, the easiest way with no disconnects is to remove the lower axle mount bolts then tie the bar up out of the way,
you can drive it everyday with the swaybar completely removed, the body roll will take some gettin used to, mine hasn't been hooked up for over a year cuz i'm to lazy to fool with the disconects..
like monster suggested, the currie antirock sway bar gives ya happy medium of hwy handling and off road flex mostly depending on how ya have it adjusted.
I'd suggest the tire pressure to be around 25-30psi, the jeep is light and the tires are huge, lower pressure will help with the ride and the handling, you can check for proper wear with chalk on the tread and a trip across the parkinglot.
the 35's will go under the 4" just fine even with the sway bar unhooked with a bumpstop adjustment/check.
the tj's handle like crap when ya get over 3" of suspension lift IMO, thats the reason I push the small 2.5" lifts for getting up to 35's under there with little mods.

Wow,its been forever since I started this thread. I havent been on ina while though. But I have finally come to the conclusion of not going with any of the cheaper lifts as we discussed earlier. I have now narrowed it down to three lifts. The three are the rubicon express 4.5, the rock krawler 4.5, or ths jbs 4.5. What do you guys think of these lifts? what would be the best buy. I forgot to include that i have a 3 inch body lift installed in my jeep so that means 36 inch tires max right?

if ya have a 3" body lift already, and ya put on a 4.5" lift you'll be getting 37's under there.
I'd go for something more like 2-2.5".
check into the nth degree lift now availble from AEV. and maybe get rid of the 3" body lift. rock krawler was among my top choices when I first started messing around whith the tj, nth degree or teraflex LCG is what I really wanted. now Im very content with what I have since I've run along side the others though I'll be going with a tummy tucker and long arms in time.
one of the other members (crawlijuana) has a BDS 6" on his rubicon with very little complaints.
