Sticky Thread TJ / LJ Suspension and recommendations?

I have read this post and I think its better to post in here as opposed to starting another new thread on the same topic. I really like what you guys have been saying so i ask some quick advice without trying to steal the topic from original poster. I was in his exact position but have decided to not go 6" as well because of the HUGE increase in expense and numerous other modifications.

I am learning a lot here. I want to run 33's with as minimal lift as possible without cutting into fenders and still have very good road manners as my TJ is my DD too. I seen Mudb8's post about the OME kit. I think that is the way to go by the sounds of it, you all seem to recommend it . In that post he recommends the "ultimate kit" ($1200) that clears upto 35's with the long arm???

I was wondering if the deluxe kit will be good enough as i do not plan on running bigger than 33's? The deluxe kit is a 2.5" suspension raise and 1.25 body raise correct? So i can run 33"s on it with no problems without any other modifications other than what comes with the kit?

Thanks so much guys!!!

I ran the OME lift with a 1" body lift and 33" tires for years. I also had an SYE, because my plans did not include stoping at 2". You might have a little drive line vibe. Every TJ is unique.

I would include 2 addional items. Either an Advance Adpaters or Skyjacker transfer case shifter bracket relocator ($50). And a JKS budget motor mount lift ($60).

Im going to buy a jeep put used 37 govt surplus bias plys on a 6 inch short arm and a 4 inch home made t -case drop. Pushing it with 3.07 gears for mileage. 3 inch body lift. Negate things like sway bars, shifter linkage, pitman arm and track bars. As much chrome bling bling as possible. Ebay magic tuner, 3 inch exhaust with a cherry bomb. Intent, serious mall crawling and heavy high speed freeway driving. What color jeep should I buy? Sorry had a crappy day and needed a laugh hoped this made you laugh too. Functional looks better anyday. I have a 3.5" Re short arm and 33's it works well. Ride is alittle rough so im now dreaming of a long arm. I work with very heavy things and it gets to my back a bit.

I break stuff.

Thanks ftgiles. I looked into ordering that deluxe kit but it says nothing about shipping to canada...Do you know if they will ship to canada? I sent them an email but it says may take upto 3 days to get a response.

Any ideas of reputable places i could order from in canada? or even better somewhere VERY near the border i could drive over and get it installed at and drive back...

Im in vancouver so west coast would be beauty...

Mechanic Im sorry about these redundant posts...Ive used enough forums on a regular basis to understand frustration of the same questions over and over....=p

lol Im not frusterated. I learn every day too. Sorry if it came off that way. When they were talking of vanity and such I thought of all of that. What would be the worst way to screw up a jeep in the name of vanity. Id rather deal with redundant questions then have a newbie who spends a ton of money on something hes not going to be able to use or be happy with. It would scare me away from the sport. That would be one more lost ally in the fight for our rights and such. Im an advoate for your ability to enjoy your jeep.

What! You're in Canada?? I've got different advice for you now...

I'm sure they'll ship to Canada. We actually like you guys ok.

With the dollar being what it is, it might be well worth driving down to Bellingham and get some labor done at a discount.

Hahahah, thats what Im thinking. bellingham would be a good bet its less than an hour away.

I don't imagine you know any reputable shops I could order the lift and the tires and wheels from in that area?? Now that you know what im looking for =)

Ill wait and see if they ship to canada but Id almost perfer to get it all done in the US because its cheaper for me to get everything done there.

Northwest Off-Road Specialties might help you. They look like they are all about Toyotas but maybe they'll work on a Jeep or refer you to someone who will.

dustin: tonight me and mudb put my lift kit on at my garage. it is the utltimate kit, i was just like you wanting exactly way you want: run 33s with minimal lift and have a good quality lift, so i oppted for the deluxe, i called DPG Offroad and talked to Dirk (very very smart man can tell you what you need to know and is honest). he talked me into the deluxe beacause you need the adjustable front track bar and having an adj rear is just an all around good thing to have. i had the ultimate shipped to my door for 1338 dollars US. wish is a decent price for that kit, DPG is very reputable and will do you right, they ship right away too.. even if you dont order from DPG, atleast call Dirk and he will help you out with all your needs, you might have to leave a message they dont answer alot of the time.

where i said he talked me into the deluxe  kit i meant to say ULTIMATE. if you do get the deluxe becuase of the price i would reccomend atleast buying an aftermarket front adj trac bar to center that axle

last week fastjeepwrangler got his ultimate kit in, and early this week the 285x75-16 mickey thompsons's came...

just happend I was passing through town and was able to help install the suspension part of the kit tonight which ended up taking close to 6 hours. didn't get to the body lift.

anyhow the JKS track bars were easy, the rear was a direct bolt in with factory bolts. the front just takes a 9/16 drill through the frame bracket. both front and rear came out being adjusted 5/8" longer than the stock bars. the rear took a few tries, it was first and the front matched it on the first go round.
the only thing I didn't care for is the factory bolts are a little loose in the bushings, I guess we'll find out later if it becomes a problem.

the jks quick disconnects were a breaze to install, NO need for drilling out the sway bar ends either. they are plenty long to adjust to the recomended 10 degree angle.

all said it looks good, one other thing though, the shocks that came with the kit seem a little short. they botom out way before the springs unseat. I didn't notice any driveshaft vibs when we went for a ride.
the ride felt sturdy, over all pretty soft.

if ya notice the black OME shocks.... he had em painted and clear coated.

heres a few pics....

Yes, you difinetly want the N66L and N67L shocks. Not the N66 and N67 that come with the 2" springs.
