just wondering why i dont really hear about too many 318 swaps. i thought that dodge had 318s bolted up to ax15s. is it because the distributor is too far back for firewall clearance? maybe this a popular swap and i am just in the dark.

After-market support for swapping SBCs into almost anything is tremendous. You can practically buy anything you need to rebuild, hop-up or swap at Safeway.
Just breathing on a SBC gets you 350hp. So, for the effort and expense with regard to performance and support, it's the perfect swap.
And if you're a purist, Jeep is Jeep, not Chrysler, so go with a 401 from that Javaline SST you've got out back!

The Dodge 318 and 360 engines make great swaps in Jeeps. In fact they make more sense for a TJ than a GM or Hemi V-8 for many reasons. We've done a 318 swap in a TJ several years ago and many factory parts, including the Jeep gauges, can be retained. Advance Adapters has the info.
