I'm assuming the 5.0 is GM? Novak does not support or recommend it.
Input stick-out length, spline counts, clutch/pressure plate, clutch release mechanism, and pilot bushing would all need to be checked for compatibilty to the GM flywheel. Read the bottom about converting to GM engines. Click here for more info.
There is also this info from Novak that might help if you think about it in the reversal. Click here for more info.

No it an't it is from a FORD. I've heard of it being done but can't find out from where.I've seen it in JPmagazine but was to a GM350ci.It also was hooked up to a Dana 300. The T5 was modified to handle the power from the 350ci but to find out where it was sent to fix it.I've read it was somewhere here in FL.I was hopeing that someone could point me in right way to find where it was done.Thanls JDC7

Novak is saying the T5 is not strong enough for either Ford OR GM V8 power. It "can" be done but you would have to have a feather the right foot and it would still eventually shell. Many junk yards do weekend sales, you can easly pull a 4 or 5 speed tranny for about 100bucks from a vehical there. Research what you want to put in first. http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/transmission_gateway.htm Has a great knowledge base for tranny's and TC's. As well as adapters for engine to tranny and tranny to TC.

I've got a 5.0 HO from an 87 mustang mated to a T-5 in my CJ. Advanced Adapters sells a modified bell housing and all the associated parts. I've had mine in for five years with no problems. The T-5 is rated a light duty trans, but if you don't abuse it, it will give you decent service (I've had zero issues with mine). Just don't go dropping the clutch and smokin the tires on pavement on a regular basis. I am in the process of building an automatic and will be doing that swap in the very near future, so I'll have some parts for sell if you're interested .
