I have a 1998 Cherokee and lost my Haynes manual.  Can anyone tell me where I can find the id tag for the tranny.

Hey!    The Haynes book doesnt actually tell you about a tag...from what I can see each transmission (automatic) is slightly different from each other, in shape and brackets etc.   Your vin number should tell you what transmission is in your vehicle unless you modified it, or someone else has.    Which engine do you have?

Tell us the engine and weather its a 5 speed or auto and I bet we can tell you which one you have...

So it's not a Jeep... sue me... it's still faster!

It's an AW4 if it has an OD (4spd) or a 30RH if it's a 2.5L (3spd).
