I have a 46 cj2a and am thinkining of mouunting the body on a 03 rubicon chassis. Yes I understand that the body will have to be lengthened in spots but that would be okay because it would create more engine room, leg room, cargo room. But I do not want to just lengthen the body as i think it will look bad. I was think that I would lengthen the body and shorten the frame. I am not going for the original 80 inch wheelbase. As a longer wheelbase wiil not only be more functional but smoother as well and by shortening the frame a bit that will be less body modification as well. . Any suggestion on this project that I am planning. Or major problems you can think of. I know the body will have to be on lifts mounts to clear the height of the motor. I am planning this cause i love flatties, but like newer technology too and byt mountiong on a 03 rubicon it should give me a very good base to build off of both function and cost wise. Compared to just building up from the ground my old 2a

Do you already have the Rubi?
You might also check into a custom frame for the CJ2a built with TJ suspension brackets.
I know there are some available for $2000 for a '55, but don't know about a '46. Might be worth looking into.
Biggest problems with flaties is narrow and short. Tight engine clearances (headers, radiator & steering shaft) and short rear drive shaft making transmission choice limiting.
