I'm fairly convinced I'm putting 29's on my '94 YJ, or maybe 30's if I feel like dealing with abit of rubbing. I don't do a whole lot of offroading, don't intend to really-abit through some fields, with maybe the occasional tiny-bit-more-extreme go. My father seems absolutely convinced if I stress at all with tires that are much bigger than stock, I'll twist an axle...I don't think, however, that I'll be twisting the stock axles with just 29's or 30's. Any opinions?

I am running 33's on my one yj 34's on my other and both have stock axles. Tell your dad not to worry, especialy with light off road use. I even had 37's on stock yj axles for 4 months until i upgraded. You'll be fine.

Back in the old days, axles broke all the time. But metalology aint like it used to be. Go have fun, and take your dad with you. He needs to get out more.

Ah, okay. That puts my mind to rest. Especially the 37 bit. I'd ask your opinion, if I should get 28/29s, or deal with 30's rubbing...but I have a feeling you're almost guaranteed to say 30's, so that'd be abit unfair..though I am leaning towards them myself. 29's are fairly hard to come by for some reason, least, through quadratec, (though I'll probably use walmart or something for the tires anyway, when it comes time) and i don't want 28's...at least 30's are easy to find, and are actually 30's, not 28.4 or 29.6 and such things.

235/75/15 is slightly smaller than a 30x9.50. Include the Metric sizes in your tire search.
Use a tire calculator to convert the size to inches for you. Just do a search for "+tire +calculator".
