IS THERE A METHOD TO DETERMINE THE DIFFERENCE, OTHER THAN PULLING IT FROM THE VEHICLE? IT IS PRESENTLY IN MY 1975 CJ6 BUT I KNOW IT WAS NOT STOCK FROM THE FACTORY. THE TRANSFERE CASE IS A DANA20 AND THE DIFF GEARS ARE 3.74'S. THANKS FOR THE HELP.

Check the first gear. T18A has a granny gear (unsyncronized). Below are the gear ratios 1st 2nd 3rd 4th Rev T-18 4.02 2.41 1.41 1.00 4.73 T-18A 6.32 3.09 1.69 1.00 7.44

THANKS FOR THE INPUT. I BELIEVE THAT BOTH TRANSMISSIONS HAVE UNSYNCRONIZED FIRST GEARS AND I AM AWARE OF THE INDIVIDUAL GEAR RATIOS. THE QUESTION REMAINS, HOW CAN YOU DETERMINE WHAT THE FIRST GEAR'S RATIO IS WITHOUT TAKING IT APART?
