QUESTION??? Should I be able to pull my ignition key out while its running, 2000 tj. Also I noticed there is no aux. position to play the radio, will this hurt any ignition contacts?

The "accessory" position is counter clockwise (push in), not between "off" and "run". If the key comes out while running, the lock is broken.

This may be a replacement ignition. I tried everything to find another position but only have run and start. Every vehical I have oned had an accessory position. It looks like a factory key but as I said it dosen't lock in run mode.

With the ignition off, steering wheel locked, push the key in and rotate the key counter clockwise. If the key won't turn to acc, then the ignition lock is not working correctly.

Maybe somewhere in it's life it was stolen. People just stick a screwdriver in the ignition and break it??

Im trying not to think that being I just bought it. The key is an "ilco" not factory. I might want to check the <VIN>. This could get ugly.

the ignition may have been replaced and incorrectly installed.
