WHATS INVOLVED --DO I KEEP MY TRANNY OR DO I HAVE TO UES THE TRUCK TRANNY,CAN I UES MY GAS TANK AND OR NOT, WHAT ABOUT THE WIRING HARRNESS. I WANT TO DO MOST OF THIS MY SELF, I DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO PAY SOMEONE ELES TO DO IT.

there are alot of people out there doing a cummins 4BT swap... it's a 4 cyl. cummins turbo diesel... for about 5 grand you can buy what is basically a turnkey rebuilt engine... and some of these engines offered a chevy bell housing pattern... you're gas tank should work as long as you have a fuel pump that'll feed the motor depending on how high you turn it up... it's easier converting gasoline to diesel because a diesel can run with a bit of gasoline mixed in... but a gas motor will just about die if there's any diesel mixed in... there are several websites devoted to 4BT swaps and Diesel Power magazines website can offer you some information as well...
