get rid of it... that's how... the A/C compressors that are usually used for that type of thing are the older style compressors... and they are an actual air compressor... not just an air pump

"get rid of it"

I'm not sure that's the best advice. The factory compressor can work really well and not cost a ton of money.

Here's some info. I have not read it all, but it will at least get you started thinking.

I have a '97 Cherokee sit'n here in the shop. The compressor looks just like the one in the write-up.

The one in my '03 TJ looks just like it also. So, not sure what your point is.

the newer style comp. that i have seen converted are constantly having to be oiled and are basically a mess to fool with--cause you end up oiling everything you are supplying air to,but they do work---its just a matter of what you feel like dealing with??my 2 cents?

There are several ways that people keep them oiled. The people that use a separator say they work well. With no oil mess. I don't think anybody is advocating them as the best. It is a less expensive alternative, that can work.

I really don't know what point he's trying to make??

He asked if anybody had info on using his existing ac set-up, not the best way to get on-boad air.

LOL.... I personally can't stand waiting on the air to build from the lousy cfm's, ya may as well use a bicycle tire pump.
