I'm workin on my friends 92 yj with a 3" lift and he mentioned flipping the u-bolts upside down so the ends dont hang up on stuff. I thought some company made a kit to do this, but i cant find one anywhere. any ideas?

???? The YJ is a axle OVER spring design. If you do a spring OVER axle swap the U bolts will be pointing up. The U-bolt is only a U-bolt to hold the axle in the U part. You can't put a square peg in a Round hole.!

I am very aware that the yj is a spring over design! But i have seen jeeps at shows and on the trails with special u bolts and plates to flip them up with the axle still on top of the springs!!!!

The Dynatrac is lower profile but won't skid over as well as the Currie. And the Currie is $50 cheaper.

if everyone out there will look at www.jeffdanielsjeeps.com you will find some pictures of a CJ that had this done to it. do note that not all u-bolts on this vehicle were able to be reversed.

Spook, I have just started looking into the same idea.  Dynatrac offers a U-bolt flip kit http://www.dynatrac.com/products_ubolt.html but it is 159 bucks.  Then you can also build your own.  Should be fairly easy.  http://www.greatlakes4x4.com/showthread.php?t=13253.

Hope this helps.

Hey Spookietia:

Did you ever decide if Currie's u-bolt skids or u-bolt flip is your preferance?

I'd be concerned with the u-bolts rocking front to rear. Dynatrac is top notch, and don't think they would build junk. But I'm not sure I'd try to make some. Sometimes there's more than meets the eye.
