I have an 85 CJ7 with a 4cyl that has never run right. I bought it in 97 when I was looking for a 4cyl jeep because I planned to swap in a bored and stroked V8. Fast forward to today and the 4cyl might be worth keeping. The current engine has all new internals, but the guy who installed it tried to eliminate all of the pieces that involve emissions, except for a handfull of vacuum lines and the electric carb.
So my question is (finally), is it possible to replace the carb with a 1 bbl that has a manual choke? Have any of you heard of someone swapping the fuel injection from a 90's wrangler onto a CJ7?

If you want to keep the carb try a Webber. http://www.redlineweber.com/html/application_guide/JEEP.htm
