I have a 1998 jeep wrangler w/ a ax 15, some times it is very hard to put into first gear.It dosnt matter if my jeep is warm or cold, I had the syncrode
s and bearings replaced by a pro, Still the same problem so I took it to chrysler they said since my jeep has been lifted the shifter would hit the body, so they inlarged the hole where the shifter is and it still is doing the same thing.

Please help!

check your linkages. are they worn out. or bent. oil is great place to start. dont rely on a shop to fill to proper levels. most shops leave level under operating level. if you are a off roader especially. you put more stress on your parts and you will find yourself walking if oil isn't checked often.

See if it will go in 1st with the motor off. If it does and it is  hard to go in with the motor on, it could be the slave or master is weak.
