Wave at a 4 dr Wrangler?

Hmmmm...yesterday I was driving down the road and a 4 door Wrangler waved at me when it passed. Now I had a Harley back in the sixties when all the first MC to MC waving started. When I got my Jeep, I was a little amused that the wave went to there too. I said OK...Jeep people are special people that can tolerate the lack of luxury and that great rough ride that makes you feel that you are really in the driver's seat. So I accepted the wave. I liked it. Made me feel part of something unique. Now here's a 4 door Wrangler, it's a Jeep...but is it? I did wave but felt torn between letting them with the new soccer mom car (sorry my feeling) have a wave or not. I'm not a real purist and I'm actually friendly, but I am wondering about other feeling on this.

I have had a CJ7 and a YJ... I recently got a 4dr unlimited with some apprehension.  To me it just wasn't a Jeep like I loved.  The more I drive it, the more I love it!  I do consider myself a true Jeeper and find that most Jeep drivers here in Denver will not wave.  There are so many Jeeps here... but I think that most here are just Jeep drivers, not Jeepers.  This is the first Jeep I have had that my wife will actually ride in! hehe  She even wants to do some trail riding.  So give a wave to us 4 door guys!

well if in doubt just give em a one handed one finger wave, keep em guessing, instead of the jeep wave, two index fingers still hanging onto the top of the wheel!

I'll wave at them as long as it's a Wrangler, even if it's the 4 door soccer mom version.  Family Jeepers are still Jeepers!  It's better than driving an overpriced H3 Hummer!!

But don't you think the Hummer wanabees are buying the 4 dr cause it's cheaper....now that's worse to me. At least I'd know who the Hummer people are then

as long as you wave......i'm still scratching my head over the ones that i pass.......they just won't wave, course they don't really "look" like jeepers, dressed like high paid professionals (no offence to anyone in here that fits that resemblance.....lol)

I don't even bother waving at the 4 doors anymore. It's all soccer mom's on their cell phones anyway. They probably don't even recognize that my jeep is a real one!

Actually it can be deceiving. They come toward you like "hey, I'm a Jeep. I have two doors." Then BAM! Once your committed to your wave, they sport the other two doors. Before you know it, you just waved at a four door and they didn't recipricate.

I can say I understand this wave/dont wave, however for me it goes beyond just one type of jeep (ie. 4 door). I usually do not wave if I think your a poser, and unfortunetly anytime something is popular [ JK jeep]there are a lot of posers.I currently own a 07 JK and 97 Wrangler. My 97 is well built( lift locker,87 cherokee dana 44),my Jk was bought when I reached 3 kids. I needed the seats, however this was an excuse, it is a great jeep. When I have visited the JK forum at a different site, but all the talk about 17 and 18 inch wheels and the dreaded death wobble makes me want to puke. Anyway I guess it depends on the driver and the situation.

Yeah there are a lot of posers out there i wave if they dont wave back or the decide to salute me i know who they are. Its their loss to not know the feeling of capability and freedom, I know this sounds like an add for Jeep, but if you are true to the feeling it shows with an appriciated wave back!! Posers are posers but myself and you will wheel on!!

haha... here we go again...I was raised in a 79 CJ-7 and all jeepers waved. Then came the YJ, and the static began. We all started to kind of get along and wave, when the TJ came out...and it started all over again. Now there are sooooo many Jeeps out there with all kinds of drivers, I still wave...after all, it started out as "a jeep thing". Maybe those of us in the know should all sport that sticker on the front so we know ahead of time to wave, or not to wave...

1st Jeep, '79 CJ-7 with AMC 360, TH-400 Tranny, front & rear D44's, 4" susp. lift on 33"s. *sold*
2nd Jeep, 87 YJ 4.2L with Howell FI conv., Warn X8000i, 4" susp. lift on 33"s.  Still thinking about getting a TJ...

Why not wave?  Thats like when I had my 97 xj.  It was lifted, rock krawler bumpers, BFG ATs.  I got nothing but dirty looks from Zj owners.  I'll wave to any jeep.  If a liberty wants to wave I'll wave.  If a flippin compass waves I'll wave.  What is the jeep thing?  Paying too much for it, beating it up and personalizing it.  That can be done with all.  I'm happy to see the wave isn't gone with new jeepers

That's a tough comparison. Comparing CJ's to YJ's (OK). YJ's to TJ's (OK) but when you compare them to a 4 door wranglerhummer, that's a joke. It's even dangerous to wave at one of those things. They have one hand holding their cell phone to their ear and the other arm wrapped through the steering wheel putting on eye liner. No hands left to wave!

well hold on now.....they can steer with their knee, do the eye liner and still give a lurch-like wave, if they really tried.
