yep, jp did an article on the 700r4 swap but using a 231 t-case, its in the steal j articles, you can get an adaptor from advance or novak.
the 4.3 s-10 will along with sbc's, the s-10 2.8 will not.
remember the tranny has a .7 OD ratio, so the gears for say 33's should be a set of 4.88's.

OK so I can get a motor/tranny,wireing and computer for free out of a 91 s10 blazer. How hard would it be to set this all up? also what about using a carb so as it would be easyer and faster to get going? Did JP (or any 4x4 mag)ever do any info on this type of swap? If so where can I get the back issue/s of it? Will the rad out of a s10 fit a cj-7? I want to use the D300 tcase I have, will I need an adapter? and motor mounts ? Does Advance sell a kit for this? THx again !!

A sucessful engine swap starts out as a set of objectives. From some of the questions you're asking, it seems like your objectives are still vague.
What do you hope to accomplish? Street performance? Off-road performance? Fuel economy? Dependability? Emissions? Etc.
And what are the costs involved in order to accomplish your objectives? Cost is both money and time.
The least expensive part of most engine conversions is the cost of the engine. Most unsuccessful engine swaps start out as "free engine".
Most of your "cost" is developing your objectives, formulating a plan, and estimating your expenses.
Taking a late model engine, and removing the good stuff (electronic engine management) is a bad plan. Rebuild the original engine. It will "cost" a lot less.
