Nice article, I guess Mopar is still selling those axls?  A local 4x4 shop(here in SE MI) told me that Mopar stopped selling them and then tried to sell me on something else.  Won't be going back there.

My question is... what would it cost someone to have this done?  It's all well if you have your own 4x4 shop and tools and experience to do this swap (like the guy in the article), but what about if you live in an aparment (no space for this work) and don't have the specialist tools?  You have to have a shop do it for you... but what would this cost?
Thanks In advance.

I know it's sort of a cop out answer, but there are really too many variables to answer that accurately.  Figure local shop rates can vary as much as $40-$100/hour, so it really depends on the fabrication/off road shops in your area. There was a bit of fabrication involved in that swap and that factors into it as well. Plus, the suspension design, etc. The vehicle we used had coilovers and a 3-link suspension, so the installation was sort of easier in that regard. If you're retaining your coil buckets it's gonna complicate things a bit. I'd suggest the Rubicon Express bracket kit I highlighted in that story. On the other hand, the owner of the Jeep insisted on converting the bolt pattern to 5x5.5, which nearly doubled the expense and complication of the project. If I were installing a JK front in a TJ I'd probably just run conversion wheel spacers in the back to match the JK's 5x5 bolt pattern.

Last I checked you could still buy those axles. If you can't get it through Mopar Performance, check 4wd.com, quadratec.com, or Drivetrain Warehouse.
