I recently aquired a 1984 CJ7 with the 258 and an automatic transmission. THe motor blew and i got a 360 jeep motor out of and old wagonneer of a friends. Will this bolt straight to the auto tranny and motor mounts or will i have to find a conversion kit. IF so where would i find one?  

I'm not 100% sure on this, but from all that i've heard the 360 will bolt up right to your engine mounts and tranny.  The only problem you might encounter later is driveline lenth since the 360 is shorter then the 258.  This can be cured easily though, with a trip to your local machine shop to lenthen/shorten your driveshafts.  Other then that I don't think you'll see to many dificult problems.  

You will need new motor mounts but the bell housing is the same. Also was the engine from an auto or manual tranny? This does make a difference. You can go from auto to manual but not manual to auto without engine mods.  

i want to know if my trany out of and 85 jeep cherokee will bolt up to a 360
