I bought the 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee about a year ago.  my wife complained about a noise she heard.  I drove it for a while and now its getting worse. It seems to happen when you turn the wheel( more so from the left to the right) and i can feel it in the steering wheel and the floorboard.  I have heard it maybe the gear box, or ball joints, and the latest was something called a trac bar, that has a side kick named the "death wobble".  Alls I know is I'm on a budget and cannot afford numerous costly estimates that lead to more costly repairs, that don't seem to fix the problem anyway..  If anyone can help "steer" me in the right direction that would be fantastic.

death wobble is wheen you feel the front end wobbling feels like the wheels are gonna come off. could be a baljoint. check your u joints in the front axle shafts and in your drive shafts. they might be worn out or the caps might of came off of the ujoint.

I had a broken ball joint on a sway bar end, and it would pop when turning or hitting a pot hole. Only found it after putting some up and down force on the sway bar with a lever.

I have a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee and every time i turn left i here one solid knock, i too feel in my steering wheel and in the floor board. A few of my friend said i just need to replace all bushing on the steering system (tie rod, drag link, track bar, damper). My tie rod can rotate allot. i was going to start there.

I would probably start out by checking from the steering box to the spindles with the vehicle running(in park) and steer left to right(all the way)watching to see any play.Watch the track bar mount. It will run from the driver side(@frame)and run to the passenger side of the front axle.I have seen the frame mount end up with alot of play there causing the the axle to jump back and forth(from left &right)
