ok just gonna say if you are gonna try to be a mechanic and instal a rebuilt engine in your jeep cherokee like i did find your self a putting a jeep cherokee engine in for dummies book a good start is remembering where bolts and parts go onto the new engine off your old engine apparently i didnt

things i did wrong include:
1 forgot the power steering pump....
2 did not hook up elctrical systems right
3 did not put the right bolts in tranny...

BIG MISTAKE blots cme out Transmission fly wheel cracked and now im stuck jeep less so learn a valuable less if you dont know how to do something look it up and find out because in the process of trying to save money you could make the process worse god only knows what else i hooked up wrong

a good thing to do is stop at the dollar store, pick up a box of gladbags and a marker.label the bag and put your bolts in it.starter bolt bag, bellhousing bolt bag...i can just throw em all in a coffee can,ive been doin it a while....just label the stuff and youll know where they go....pictures can help tooo, and maybe a notepad.masking tape on the wire harness to show where they go,just number or abc it.piece of tape too where the wire came from with corresponding number.hope that helps

Mines cracked as well. It's knocking when in neutral and quites down or disappears when in gear with a load on it.

So whats the easiest way to change it? Pull the engine, or drop the transmission/transfer case? Mines a 94' Cherokee.

yea you want to get that fixed cuse if it flys off or completly cracks its going to break more stuff so you need to drop the tranny and put a new flywheel in putting it in is easy its droping the tranny or tearing the engine out that drives u crazy i droped my tranny but me and my buddy both agreed it was easier putting the enigine in and taken it out rather than trying to pull the tranny out then trying to get it to line up to put it back in.....but do what you think would be easier just watch the crank sensor on the bell housing because that little wire is a 100.00 part
