I've got an 05 Rubi with a rear end thats making a lot of noise. Is the locker worth rebuilding or should I just Ox lock it? The R&P all look good. I haven't pulled the carrier yet. But there was a lot of brass when the cover was removed. Anyone know if this is an on going problem? It's not a high mileage or beat rig. I can't see y it would shat the bed. Good thing it isn't wheeled hard.

Wouldn't that still be under warranty if it's an 05? Take that sucker to the dealer!

Brass in the oil???? I don't recall there being any brass or bronze components in a Rubicon locker. You sure it's not bits of a fragged pinion bearing or carrier bearing? Does the locker still work? Is the noise at speed high pitched, low pitched or is it more of a clunking banging?

Yup brass..Clunk or bang every once in awhile. It looks like it was re guered recently. Unless 5.13's were an option. Well the guy dropped a detroit locker off yesterday. I had to drill the locker ring gear bolt holes out to 7/16. this was a first for me.I never had to drill these holes out on any of the other lockers I've done. Well heres the new problem. The detroit wont sit down in the carrier the whole way.I could back the pinion all the way out but that wont be even close enough.I've done at least a dozen diffs, but never a rubi rear. D othese take an odd diff or anything?I'm hoppin that they sold him the wrong thing.Oh ya. it shouldn't matter that it has after market molly shafts in it.Other than that & the 5.13 gears its a stock 05 rubi rear.

The rubicon Dana 44 rear axle is different from other Dana 44 model rear axles. Special ring gears are needed for sure. Im not positive a special locker is needed but it would not suprise me.

Well a call to the company and I'll have the right locker on Wednesday. I thought so. Their was no way of shimming that to work. Glad I never tried. I think the rest of the install will go smoothly. Thanks all for the input.
