I took on my first diff rebuild this week.  I changed the rear diff from 4.11 to 4.56.  I had a bear of a time setting the backlash.

The stock diff had no shims under the bearings on the carrier, but had two thick washers on the outside of the carrier bearings.

The install kit I received had shims to go under the bearings like a typical dana 44.  The ring gear bolts were also the wrong size. I realized this half way through the install.  I called 4wheel parts and they sent me one new install kit for the front axle.  They did not send me the install kit for the rear since I had already started the install.

Low and behold, The new install kit had the big washers for the outside of the carrier and shims to go with them. (Not under the carrier bearings)

Question:
I have the rear axle completely done except with the shims under the carrier bearings.  One side has 1 shim under the bearing and a washer on the outside.  The other has several shims under the bearing.

Will this cause me problems?  Should I demand another install kit and start over?  I really don't want to, but I am a little concerned.
