ive got a bone stock 2.5L wrangler with the exception of 31's. i want more power and figure a swap is in order. any suggestions will help. do i need a lift to accomodate. is a v6 easier than a v8 swap. will the np231 hold up? any suggestions with the wiring which is what im  most afraid of will help...thank you

you should get lots of help on this subject here. Advance Adapters sales the motor mounts and bell housings to convert. you can use the stock trans but it will probably not last long. A lot of guys I know go to a carb engine. this is to keep from adapting the fuel injection and computer. A lot of people I know don't think about things like: exhaust system, cooling system, shrouds and the extra weight and stress that is put on the drivetrain. I have done some conversions myself and have a 92 with a 2.5 that I purchased just for the idea of V8 conversion. now I am rethinking this and am actuallty building a 2.5 that will give me what I need. Good luck!!!

I agree. have had lots of carbs do that. and have had some set up that wouldn't. here in Washington hills can be real steep and trails rough. I haven't found the best swap for my 4 banger yet because of these issues. this little 2.5 can sit on its butt and not stall. I think I would go 4.3 Chev v6 if I ever swap out. the task is the same V6 or V8 just adapting the computer or/and injection system will vary. V6 is a little lighter and will give more room for fan/cooling system. let us know what you decide. and how it turns out.
