LOL, this how the "jeep wave" came to be the index finger of each hand pointing up, while still hanging on for dear life to the top of the wheel..........I think.
yep, it was something like that. well the way i heard it, it was the comradery (did i spell that right?) of all those gi's that used to run around in them. my father in law just recently drove my yj and liked it. he was in a bad roll over in the old ford mutt when he was in korea, scared to death of them, till he got in mine.

I enjoyed reading this thread. I have had jeeps in the past but never a wrangler. I have always kicked myself for not having one when I was younger and actually had a chance at looking cool. But now with two kids, 2 dogs, one wife, one girlfriend (kidding),less hair (unfortunately true) I needed room for camping etc....so I now have a jeep 4 door wrangler. I wave at all and have been snubbed by some 2 doors. I do wear a tie for work, and soccer games on the weekends but I plead you all take pity and give a wave of your condolences if nothing else. I don't miss my power windows, heated seats, etc. One of my best new memories with my jeep is taking my wife and kids for a ride on some of my favorite cycling roads in the country with the top down this fall. We came on a field with a huge 10 point buck that I caught a nice photo. I haven't been so excited about a "toy" since I was a kid. As one post said, I will try to make mine a "happy jeep." So I will keep waving and appreciate those who return the favor!

I started to notice less and less people are waving around here. I wave to every Jeep Wrangler even the new 4-door ones, but I have found most Jeep people don't know what is going on any more or they just don't have the respect that the old time Jeep people have. I'm not that old by the way but I've been a Jeep guy for a long time. I do have to say I've never got a one finger solute at least by a Jeep guy.

a jeep is a jeep is a jeep! it just depends on whos driving it. im obviously a jeep dihard as you can tell by my tattoo. i love all of them. i just dont like the compass and what it represents. its a car not a jeep. i think that people just have a hard time accepting anything new. they just dont like that most of the people who baught a 4 door are status symbol soccer moms. dont hate on the jk 4door just cause of whos driving it. its still a veary well equiped jeep. and i love that after all these years there still doing different things with the wrangler or whatever you want to call it. after its been around for a longer time and the hype dies off and more people start to wheel them and modify them the bad rep will wear off just like all the other jeeps when they came out. i agree there are alot of people out there that just plain wont wave and its because they dont understand the whole jeep thing. and the ones who dont wave are usually driving the street jeeps. although ive been to a few jeep jamborees and there were those rich *** with the high dollar rigs that wont wave because your not cool enuf or built up enuf like there better than you. well damit what happend to the jeep spirit? were all out there to wheel and have fun no matter what were wheeling or how built up it is. we have to stick together. i drive around most of the time in my 94 zj its lifted and has a big sticker on the rear that says "got mud?". and i dont even get a look from the wrangler guys. but as soon as i jump in my wrangler i get wave after wave. i think this is wrong also. its a jeep damnit. so i think we could all just stop judging people on which jeep they drive and just be glad they had enough sense to buy a jeep.

I have a 81 cj5 with soft top and soft doors and it has been around 3 to 7 degrees in vermont. My heater sucks and I freeze everyday. Thats jeeping to me. I wave but they dont aknowledge, maybe my jeeps too old and my winch is too high and my kc lights are too bright and my lift looks down on them...If they want to wave they will if not oh well..

Heres my take on the JK thing. It seems the 4 door Jeep has replaced the Volkswagen Jetta as the new "it" yuppie-mobile. I only see retards, yuppies, and old moms driving these things around. Even if they looked up from their cellphone txting or makeup applying, if they saw you wave, theyd have no clue what was going on. Those 4 door stock Jeeps look horrible enough on their own, but add one of these people behind the wheel, and its enough to make me puke on their "flenders". Can we make a law or something before this gets outta control? Its embarrasing for the rest of us. Ive owned 3 CJ's and now I have an '05 Rubicon thats decked out with a long arm kit, 35's etc...at first I wondered about getting waves from the older Jeeps, but soon found I was quite accepted. I do however get way more waves with my '73 CJ-5. Theres also sub-cultures, the YJ's wave more to each other and so on...the thing is though, the 4 door crowd for the large part, are H3 look-a-like wannabe posers that havent a clue what the lifestyle is about. Gimmie your 20 inch wheeled, backseat monitor equipped, 4 door Jeep so I can sell it and build me up a nice CJ-8 or flattie.

come on now. its a jeep. dont hate it cause of the gay people who are driving it. im a family guy with two kids and i would love to have one to deck out and take the family wheeling in. in about 5 years when the hype dies off and everyone want one cause of the wheelbase for hill climbs and rock climbing im gonna bring up all this hate. look past all the homos driving them and see it for what it is. a long wheel base jeep. what about the commanders. i dont see anyone bashing them and there more of a yuppie ride. even though i own one and im not a yuppie. and in petersons 4 wheel and off road they used two of them as chase vehicles for the last ultimate adventure. they both had liftsand were beaten offroad. and what about the vehicle they used for the ultimate adventure? it was a 4 door wrangler they put on a dodge truck frame and put a cummins desil under the hood. choped the top and put a tube cage in its place. that is one bad ass rig. so dont judge the 4 door for whos driving it. judge the jeep.

Easy there turbo, im not bashing the jeeps, im talking about the people driving them. Theyre ruining the whole thing. And when was the last time you saw a tricked out 4 door JK driven by an H&R Block employee? Exactly. These are the people who want to look cool and rough. I also said "STOCK 4 door JK's" are ugly with their fenders hanging 6 inches past their road slick tires. Done right, im sure one would look bad ass. The whole point I was making was about the people. Jeep wants to make money, so they wont stop making them when the demand cant keep up with the supply. The Commander is totally a yuppie car though! Sorry dude, but I couldnt justify spending 35 g's only to have to cut up the body to be able to fit decent size tires in there. No doubt, its the most capable in its class, but couldnt find enough takers, thats why its dying next year.

All valid points...but Jeepnut, look at the 4drs you featured here. Yeah they are real cool but they could have been VW bodies on a bigfoot frame. The point trying to be made here is about the store bought 4dr. Yups are buying them because they are 4dr and can fit all their PDAs, laptops, case of mail order Merlot per month and soccer moms and kids into them. They bought it because they think they will get the comfort of a SUV and maybe someone will think they got it going on (Stacy's Mom) too. You're right, I might be hating it because of the people buying it. But that says something in itself, doesn't it? Oh and BTW, I'll wave at anyone who has put the time into a real nice build, Commanders and even Liberties. But you have to build those kind to make me believe they should get a wave.
